"The Wondrous Octopus" with Sara Ellis

Everyone knows that an octopus has eight arms, but did you know it has nine brains, three hearts, and one beak? Marine biologist Sara Ellis will expound on the impressive features of this intelligent invertebrate. This “singing professor” will also share an original song about octopus, as well as her favorite Beatles song.

Sara Ellis, Ph.D., is a marine biologist who has studied a wide variety of animals including octopus, lobsters, seals, and whales. She enjoys sharing her passion about the ocean with people of all ages. Her overarching goals are to instill a sense of wonder in others and inspire stewardship of the marine environment. She is a Research Assistant for the Marineland Right Whale Project, and a naturalist on small cruise ships. Sara has written articles for magazines, newspapers, and scientific journals. Her other interests include travel, photography, kayaking, ukulele, and singing.
