Grandparent Cafe

Coffee, conversation and connections for grandparents and kinship caregivers raising children.

Almost 24,000 children in NH are living in a home where a grandparent or relative is the head of the household, and this number is continuing to increase. Whether it’s due to incarceration, substance misuse or any number of other reasons, a growing number of parents are not able to take care of their children and family members are stepping in. Our goal for Grandparent Cafe is to create a welcoming, friendly space where grandparents and kinship caregivers can connect with one another, share their stories, and learn about resources to support their families.

This is a partnership between the Seabrook and Hampton Public Libraries (with support from Step Up Parents) along with SAU 90 and SAU 21 to offer a group for Grandparents and Kinship Caregivers who are raising children. The group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month--starting Feb 8th-- from 10:30-11:30 am at Seabrook Library and Lane Library (alternating).

To register, participants can call or email Patrice at pbaker@sau21.org or (603) 926-8992 ext. 117, or they can simply show up at the library! All grandparents and kinship caregivers raising children are welcome. The "agenda" for the group meetings will be developed by the group, based on their interests and needs.
