Donations of gently used, clean books are accepted. The Friends also appreciates donations of clean, unscratched, and in the case DVD’s, music CD’s, and video games. The Friends do not take donations of items that are dirty, musty, moldy, torn, or in poor condition. The library does not accept donations of dictionaries, textbooks, and Reader’s Digest condensed volumes.

Donations should not be left at the library when the library is closed. It is the donor's responsibility to make appropriate arrangements to transport and bring their items inside the library and downstairs to the Lane Room. The library does have a dolly and book cart that may be accessed for bringing  items inside. Donors are requested to bring their items in boxes.

The Friends of the Lane Memorial Library is a volunteer, non-profit organization. They accept donations through the library based on time available for processing, availability of space, suitability of format, community interest, and physical condition of the item. Items not kept by the Friends are either processed for disposal or donated to other organizations that utilize book donations.
