Black Heritage Trail Historic Marker Unveiling

The Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire, in partnership with the Hampton Heritage Commission and the library, is thrilled to announce the unveiling of a historic marker honoring Dinah Burdoo, the last know person to live enslaved in the town of Hampton. This will be the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire’s first commemorative marker in Hampton and the first commemorative marker honoring Dinah Burdoo.
The marker will be located on the Winnacunnet lawn of the library, and parking will be available at the library, the municipal parking lot, as well as along Winnaccunnet Road and Academy Avenue. This marker is placed across the street from Dinah's last home in Hampton.
